I spent an extended amount of time in Canada last month. It gave me time to try a lot of beer from Ontario and Michigan and play around with some new idea. After a couple tries, I figured out how to make human figures out of caps. You can see the progression from the first, simple ones (“Hey You’ & “Just Having a Beer”) to the later, more elaborate hockey player. I also made some bugs; an ant and a spider. In addition, I made some more calla lilies and dahlias.

This has been a productive month for finishing up long overdue projects. I finally completed the 1957 Chevy Bel Aire I was commissioned to make. I got around to making the honey bee I’ve wanted to do for a while. Both of these projects turned out quite well. I also made a couple of signs. One was the second I’ve made for Strangeways Brewery and the other was a simple “OPEN” sign for a friend’s food truck. Of course, there were the steady requests for custom stars and flowers.

The weather hasn’t been great, which is a good excuse to stay inside and knock some projects off my list. Strangeways, a local brewery in town, commissioned me to make their logo using their caps. They also asked me to make some roses for their tasting room. This has led to several commissions for specialized ones. I finally started on some new flowers for my wedding. I’ve only made a hand full and have many more to go.
