I spent an extended amount of time in Canada last month. It gave me time to try a lot of beer from Ontario and Michigan and play around with some new idea. After a couple tries, I figured out how to make human figures out of caps. You can see the progression from the first, simple ones (“Hey You’ & “Just Having a Beer”) to the later, more elaborate hockey player. I also made some bugs; an ant and a spider. In addition, I made some more calla lilies and dahlias. After returning from Canada I went to work on several wedding presents. The first was my most elaborate figure; VCU basketball player, Briante Weber, dunking. The other was a larger, fancier version of the flower plants I originally made several years ago. My largest project of the last month and a half was a sign for a new beer shop in town, De Fles Winkel. It’s almost 3 feet in diameter and features a full sized growler made of caps.
The most important recent development was finally becoming an LLC… I’m official! I’ve got my own lawyer and accountant and I’ve finally started investing in new equipment. I plan to invest in a business vehicle and eventually a warehouse. The projects have slowed down a bit as I focus on the many wedding flowers that need to be made. I’ll continue to participate in the South of the James Market and make smaller items.
